If I was in a big family with lots of brothers and sisters I wouldn't like sharing a bedroom with them or having the same food every night because we wouldn't have lots of money to buy lots of different foods - we would have to use all the money to buy clothes.

  1. Hi Grace,

Ruby here from the Summer Learning Journey.
Good work on these activities! Well done.
You have some good ideas about why you wouldn't want to be in a large family. It would be very expensive to have that many children! I don't think you would spend lots of money on clothes though. You would have to wear lots of hand-me-downs if you weren't the oldest.

Your pepeha looks great! I can see there are a few lines missing through. I had difficulty thinking of my iwi and hapu as well. In the end, after talking to my teacher, I decided to use Airiri (Irish) as my iwi because this is where my family comes from. I used Simpson as my hapu because they are my immediate family. Maybe you could try using these :)

It sounds like your family will have a great summer! Can you think of some fun facts for each family member? A fun fact about my sister is that she likes to sew quilts.

I look forward to reading more of your blog over summer.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.

  2. Hi Grace

My name is Allie and I am the cluster manager for our area Toki Pounamu. I came and saw you at your school. You have made a great start to the programme.
I agree with you it would be very challenging having a family with lots of siblings.
Imagine the wait for the bathroom in the morning if you were all trying to get ready for school at the same time.
I think also you wouldn't get many new clothes you would get lots of hand me downs.
On the up side you would always have someone to play with, and imagine what a great game of hide n seek you would be able to play.

I look forward to reading your posts over the summer. Keep up the great work Grace.

    Until next time

    Allie :)
