Dixon house writing

Last week We went to Dixon house to read books to the old people. Dixon House is an old people's home. Dixon house doesn't get much attention so the Mequa (polytech lady) Organised for us to go to read books. Hope you like it!

A few weeks earlier we got a notice saying that we will be going to Dixon house to read books to the old people! Leading up to this day I was nervous as I had not known anyone there. On Tuesday 25th of May we went, took our books and read. The polytech paid for us to get the bus there and back. We got our books out of the library on Tuesday and at 1.00 we got the bus to Dixon house!

We went inside and I definitely was not expecting what I saw. It had lots of different doorways into the main room where all the old people were sitting waiting for us. We got introduced to some staff and the majority of the residents. We walked around until we found a free person to read to, I read to at least 10 people. One of the hardest parts was going around and actually just starting a conversation with a random stranger that we had never met before.

Going and seeing these old people made me feel really sad and happy as some of them didn't have family or grandchildren so they said that they really appreciated us coming in and reading to them. Some of the old people were really disabled they couldn't see, talk, move or do much!

After we had read the polytech and Mequa had made some slices/baking for us to eat. So afterward we sat down with some of the old people and had something to eat. The thing I enjoyed the most was that it was really nice going and talking to some people who didn't have family or grandchildren. I learn't that it's always nice to give back to the community and nice to communicate with old people.

Hey everyone! This week we did another current events quiz, I picked my poster to be about Benee announcing that she will be touring New Zealand. The thing I most enjoyed about this activity was Learning more things about Benee and her touring! The thing I found the most challenging about this was trying to find information about her touring as there wasn't much information about it. To be BTB (better than before) I could put more pictures of her!

Hey everyone, Today we did a current events quiz! One of the questions was based on the boy gone missing in Tolaga bay! The thing I enjoyed about making this poster was finding out new information I may have never known. The thing I found the most challenging was finding more pictures of the family and more of Axle!

  Hey everyone, this is my ANZAC artwork for ANZAC week I really enjoyed creating a poster that looks like it is from the olden days the thing I found most challenging was drawing and clouring the more solider. To be BTB I could maybe next time make it plainer instead of all the green and the blue because it makes the color look bright!

Hey everyone! We have been working on Current events Yesterday and today! I picked the question about Prince Philips's death. The thing i really enjoyed about this is that i found out heaps of new facts about prince Philip and his family. The thing I found the most challenging was trying to find out facts about exactly when he died Because he was 99 and dies on the 9th and imagine if he died at 9pm!

Hey everyone! we have started a new t shaped literacy activity. I really enjoyed doing that activity because we got to read about different countries and learn things about different countries and the thing I found the most challenging was reading the long books about energy

 5 reasons why fitness is important!

Hey everyone! Today my class and Whenua compleated something called the 4js run. The 4js run is something that keeps up your exercise and keeps you fit. We decided out 2 classes would make a blog post on 5 reasons why fitness is important for you. Although running is not something everyone limes doing it is really important to stay fit! The thing I most enjoyed about making this post was also reminding myself why fitness is important for you and why you need to be doing it! The thing I found the most challenging would have been actually doing the 4js fun and realizing how hard fitness actually is. To be BTB (better than before) next time I will try harder doing the run and think about why fitness is so important!

 Kinetic and Potential energy

This week we have been working on our energy! Ellie and I made a kinetic and potential energy video. We created something to represent kinetic and potential energy. The thing I most enjoyed about this activity is that we could build basically whatever we wanted to represent kinetic and potential energy. The thing I found the most challenging was attempting to talk about potential and kinetic energy! Hope you like my post.

 

SOLAR ENERGY

Today we learnt more about how the wind and sun affect our daily lives in all different types of way and what activities we do that engage the energy of the sun and wind, then found different answers to the questions. Then we watched a video about Tawhirimatea and thought about extra ideas we could add! The thing I most enjoyed about this activity was thinking of all the different ways we use the sun and wind. The Past 2 weeks we have been doing our T-shaped Literacy! We made a song to represent Literacy and show everything about energy. The thing I most enjoyed about making this song was that it wasn't serious and it was really funny. The thing I found the most challenging was Trying them and find words that connected with other words! I hope you liked my post!

For the past 2 weeks, we have been working on our reading! T-shaped Literacy! Our Literacy is focused on energy and that is why Clara and I's mobile has all different types of energy on it! The thing I most enjoyed about the reading this week is that it was really interesting and it had lots of things to create. I really enjoyed it because it was very interesting to read about why the government wants to ban it. The thing I found the most challenging about this activity was probably that there is not enough information on all of the questions and so you sometimes can't understand what they mean. To be BTB next time I will choose a question with some more information so I can write more about it.

The thing I most enjoyed about making this one was that it was probably the best one to make out of all of them. I watched the video so it all made sense to me.
